Licensed Psychotherapist
Claudia Maisch
Specialized Therapy for adults navigating anxiety, burnout, parenthood, relationships, And Life changeS.
I’m a licensed psychotherapist based in the West Village, NYC and I am committed to holding presence for the complex ways each person engages with the world. I understand how vulnerable it can feel to ask for help, especially if you are used to being the capable one. My goal is to provide a steady, supportive, and non-judgmental space for therapy where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and patterns safely.
I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative. Together, we co-create a process that reflects your needs, goals, and unique experiences. I approach my work with curiosity and respect for the strengths and coping strategies you have developed, even the ones that may now feel exhausting.
My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming, sex positive, and grounded in an intersectional, anti-oppressive lens. I recognize that individual and family patterns are shaped by broader social systems, histories, and cultural influences. In therapy, we make space for both personal reflection and systemic context, highlighting your capacity for self-leadership, compassion, courage, and curiosity.
My background & approach
I work with high-functioning, driven adults and young adults in Manhattan and throughout NYC who often feel anxious, overwhelmed, or quietly burnt out despite appearing composed and capable. Many of my clients experience patterns of perfectionism and over-functioning that developed for good reasons, such as creating safety, stability, or control. Over time, these strategies can become exhausting and limit opportunities for rest, uncertainty, and emotional growth.
Using a relational and trauma-informed approach, I integrate psychodynamic therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and narrative techniques. In therapy, we explore long-standing patterns, understand what they have protected you from, and develop new ways of relating to yourself, others, and the systems around you.
I provide therapy for a wide range of emotional and life challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, chronic stress, burnout, identity exploration, and relationship or intimacy struggles. I also specialize in supporting students and young adults, women’s wellness, and hopeful, expectant, and postpartum parents.
I see clients both in-person in Manhattan, as well as via online therapy for those across New York State. My approach is both supportive and gently challenging, helping clients slow down, gain insight into their patterns, and develop tools to feel more grounded, connected, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges.
